June 4th Anniversary Program

June 4 2006 will mark 10 years since the death of Kudirat Abiola, a distinguished fighter in the struggle for democracy in Nigeria. KIND is organizing a symposium which will promote and encourage women leaders to work towards strengthening the nation’s nascent democracy. The symposium, titled: Towards 2007: Moving Nigeria’s Women from Intentions to Results, will engage all relevant women’s associations and organizations in the country in a strategic dialogue aimed at mobilizing women’s participation in politics into a force that makes a difference in the upcoming democratic elections. Speakers include Mrs Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, Executive Director African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF), Chief Loretta Aniagolu Founder and CEO, FIT Consult and 2003 gubernatorial aspirant, Dr Violet Arene, Executive Director, Media Rock Consult.

The symposium will be held Thursday June 1, 2006 at 9 a.m., Agip Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

KIND is also organizing a Special Capacity Building Workshop for secondary school students in Lagos on Friday June 2, 2006 at 9 am, Eko Fm, Lateef Jakande Road, Ikeja, Lagos. Please email to register your school.
